15th Street Housing Veterans and Disabled

A non-profit based in Chicago has opened a housing opportunity for veterans and persons with disabilities at a former school in downtown Dubuque. Fifteenth Street Apartments features 36 one- and two-bedroom units at 180 West 15th Street. Jordan Bartle, project manager for Full Circle Communities, says they saw a need for affordable housing in Dubuque. Bartle says many older buildings and houses are not equipped for the disabled and the new apartments are all accessible or adaptable units. There is an open house each Saturday from 9 am from noon. Among the amenities the apartments offer, community room, computer lab, building security and a library. Services include healthcare referrals, job training, and financial education.
