KATE HUMPHREY, director

Kate Humphrey joined IFF in 2024 and currently serves as Director of Real Estate Solutions – Michigan for IFF’s regional office in Detroit. In this role, Kate leads a team of real estate consultants providing facility project planning and owner’s representative services to nonprofits delivering all manner of programs vital to supporting with-promise communities in Detroit, the metro area, and across the state.

Before joining IFF, Kate was the central region director of development in the City of Detroit’s Housing and Revitalization Department, focused on leveraging public-private partnerships to promote the development of transformational housing in the city. She oversaw the city’s participation in mixed-use and residential projects, including both new construction and rehabilitation, working closely with private developers to connect them with public financing tools, entitlement approvals, and publicly owned land to enable catalytic projects. She also worked as a land use planner at Cooley LLP in Reston, Virginia, where she coordinated the efforts of multidisciplinary consultant teams, developers, and public-sector planning staff to manage zoning applications in the rapidly urbanizing suburbs of Washington, D.C.

Kate holds a Master of Urban Planning and graduate certificate in real estate development from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan, and a BA from Colby College.
