TONY HERNANDEZ, director

Tony Hernandez joined CIBC as Managing Director and Community Development Finance Manager in 2014, bringing 20 years of community development finance experience to his role managing the bank’s portfolio of CRA-qualified investments. The portfolio includes investments in Small Business Investment Companies, Community Development Financial Institutions, Low Income Housing Tax Credits and mezzanine investments in affordable housing developments and small businesses.

Prior to joining the bank, Tony led the Asset Management Department for the Illinois Housing Development Authority for six years and was Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager for LaSalle Bank’s Community Development department for nine years, managing both lending and investment portfolios. He began his career working for a non-profit community organization that provided financing for small businesses in Chicago.

Tony received a Masters of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago. Tony resides with his wife and three sons in Chicago.
